Services for R.E. Ross, 73, of 408 Danube St., were held at 2 p.m. today in Alexander Chapel of Memories.

The Rev. Weldon Rives officiated. Burial was at Highland Park Cemetery by Alexander Funeral Directors.

A retired gang pusher for Phillips Petroleum Co. he was a native of Sherman County. He had been a Borger resident for 45 years. He was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church and Odd Fellows & Rebecca Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil; a son, Johnny of Borger; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Phillips of Fritch; three brothers, W.T. of Marietta, Okla., Ira of Phoenix City, Ala., and Lloyl of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Boles of Slaton, Mrs. Alta Humphreys and Mrs. Opal Hampton, both of Borger; even grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials should be made to the American Cancer Society.

Sybil Irene Weldon Ross, 98, of Amarillo died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Brown Chapel of the Fountains in Borger with Georgie Cornelsen officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger.

Mrs. Ross was born March 23, 1913, in Hollis, Okla., to Andrew and Nancy Casey Weldon. She married R.E. Ross on Dec. 24, 1929, in Magnum, Okla.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Phillips of Amarillo; a brother, James "Pat" Loyl Weldon of Amarillo; a sister, Arlene Martin of Fritch; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Sanford-Fritch Girl's Athletic Department, 538 Eagle Blvd., Fritch, TX 79036; or Lakeview Elementary General Fund, 6704 Lair Road, Amarillo, TX 79118.
