Funeral Services for J. Lawton Sands, 81, of 211 W. Grand, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, with Dr. Charles Thrasher, pastor, officiating.

Sands, a retired insurance salesman, died late Thursday evening in North Plains Hospital.

Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Sands was a member of First Baptist Church, Isom Masonic Lodge, and a 50-year member of the Borger Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel, one daughter, two sisters; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Sands was a housewife and a buyer for K.C. Ready to Wear. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Women's Missionary where she served as treasurer, and was also a member of the Women of Rotary and Past Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Rue Tillery of San Antonio; and three grandchildren.
