Roy E. Adams, 83, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at his home in Wellman.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 8 at First United Methodist Church in Brownfield with Brother Eddie McHugh and Brother Don McWhorter officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. Personal services are under the direction of Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors of Seagraves.
Mr. Adams was born on August 27, 1926, to Fitzugh and Verda Adams in Chico, Texas. He married Veneta on January 14, 1949, in Brownfield. Roy was a resident of Wellman his entire life. He was the first mayor of Wellman.
His family remembers how he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and collecting bottles and coins. He was a hardworking, honest honorable man. Mr. Adams wanted to help everyone and was very dependable. He loved his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memories are one brother, J.O. Adams of Oklahoma; one sister; Argie Corley of Odessa; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both parents, F.V. and Maize; one son, Royce Adams in 2008; one daughter; Rita Adams in 1985; one son-in-law, Bob Hays, in 1997 and one daughter-in-law, Debbie Adams, in 2005.
