W.D. "Bill" Slaybaugh Jr., 74, died Thursday, March 28, 2002.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Andrew's United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Dorn, pastor, and Steve Cook, missionary, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Slaybaugh was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Ochelata, Okla., and had been a Borger resident since 1942. He was management consultant for North Country Distributors and served in the Navy during World War II.

He married Jo Woody on March 28, 1948. He was a Kentucky Colonel, member of Rotary Club, Borger Chamber of Commerce and American Legion. He was a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. where he served in every office locally.

He served on the Borger City Council for six years and also on the Borger Planning and Zoning Committee. He was a member of the Panhandle Region Texas Review and Comment System Committee from 1991 to 1993 and was the chairman from 1992 to 1993.

Casket bearers will be Joel Brown, Brandon Slaybaugh, Matt Gillman, Dillon Thompson, Steve Slaybaugh, Colby Forrester, John Waldrep and Randy Slaybaugh.

Honorary casket bearers will be employees and previous employees of North Country Distributors.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim Slaybaugh and wife, Marilyn, of Las Vegas and Jerry Slaybaugh and wife, Jill, of Borger; a daughter, Judy Forrester and husband, George, of Borger; two brothers, Don Slaybaugh of Pampa and George Slaybaugh of Borger; two sisters, Val Park of Douglas, Wyo., and Nancy Waldrep of Borger; 12 grandchildren, Amy Brown, Joel Brown, Jessica Thompson, Christen Gillman, Jamie Slaybaugh, Brandon Slaybaugh, J.D. Slaybaugh, Brandy Knowlton, David Knowlton, Dustin Knowlton, Colby Forrester and Holly Moran; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson, Amarillo, TX 79101; or to Steve Cook Ministry, International, Commission, 500 S. Ervay, No. 409A, Dallas, TX 75201.

Jo Woody Slaybaugh, 89, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021.

Per her wishes no services will be held.

Jo was born August 30, 1931, in Nowata, Oklahoma to James Edward Woody and Myrtle Marie Smith Woody, and had been a Borger resident since 1942. She married W.D. "Bill" Slaybaugh Jr. on March 28, 1948. Jo enjoyed reading, gardening and playing board and card games. Nothing brought more joy to her life than her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Myrtle Woody; husband, W.D. "Bill" Slaybaugh Jr., and brother, James Clark Woody.

Survivors include her two sons, Jimmy Dean Slaybaugh and wife, Marilyn of Springdale, Arkansas and Jerry Don Slaybaugh and wife Donna of Galveston Island; daughter, Judy Brown and Rex Henderson of Borger; grandchildren, Jessica Farris and husband Gene, Cristen Gillman and husband Matt, Jamie Gregory and husband Jon, William Brandon Slaybaugh, Jerry Don Slaybaugh, II "Deuce", Amy Lyn Winfield, Joel N. Brown and wife Nicole; and ten great-grandchildren.
