Wife of H. B. Virgil Crawford. Married December 24, 1939.
Loving mother of Carol Ann Crawford Pruitt (shown in photo at right), Joseph Virgil Crawford and Samuel Monroe Crawford II.
Born in Roganville, Texas, Bernice moved to Brownfield, Texas in 1939. She married H. B. Virgil Crawford on 24 December 1939, at the Howell family home near Roganville. During World War II she was in charge of the Terry County Sewing Room.
Bernice attended Mary Hardin Baylor College and graduated from Baylor University. A lifetime artist and homemaker, she was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Brownfield Art Association and the First Baptist Church of Brownfield.
Other survivors included her three children mentioned above, her sister, Eva Jane Howell Griswold of Houston, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Served in the US Navy Pacific theater during WW II aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Ticonderoga. Very active in the American Legion throughout his life.
