Borger News Herald - August 18, 1978

Services were held today at 11 a.m. for J.C. "Dick" Spelce, 78, at the First Baptist Church of Phillips. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery by Alexander-Simpson Funeral Directors.

Mr. Spelce died Wednesday. He had lived here for 33 years.

He retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1963.

Surviving are his wife, Eula; two sons, Bill R. of Borger and J.C. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Hamilton of Allen and Mrs. Edith Carrell of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

Eula R. Spelce, 97, died Monday, October 20, 1997 in North Plains Care Center in Borger.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 1997 at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains with the Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

A native of Bonham, Tx., she had been a Borger resident for 52 years. She was a housewife and a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. "Dick" Spelce in 1978.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Spelce of Borger and J.C. Spelce, Jr. of O'Fallon, Ill.; three grandchildren, Sabrina Lee Helfenbein of Dallas, Karla Ann Spelce of Greenville, S.C. and Jennifer J. Spelce of College Station; two great grandchildren.
