FRITCH - Services for Precinct 2 Constable B.A. (Van) Vandivere, 86, of Mustang Road in Little Ponderosa, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Gateway Baptist Church, in Borger.

The Rev. Don Hughes, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery by Alexander Funeral Directors.

Mr. Vandivere served four terms as constable of Precinct 2, beginning in 1964. His present term, which began in 1976, was to expire in January. He had chosen not to run for re-election.

He had worked 15 years with the Texas Highway Department, two terms as county commissioner and 17 years as a police officer.

A native of Clark County, Arkansas, Mr. Vandivere had been a resident of Fritch for 16 years, moving from Borger where he had lived for 17 years.

In 1913, Mr. Vandivere married the former Vivian Brown of Eastland. He was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, M.V. (Cotton) of Phillips and Dewey of Amarillo; one daughter, Mrs. Vivian Dobbs of Fritch; one brother, Ernest of Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Botts of Abilene, Mrs. Ola Lloyd of Abilene and Mrs. Edna Thompson of Goree; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Vivian Etta Vandivere, 97, of Fritch, died Monday, February 22, 1993 in her home.

A native of Alvin, she had been a Hutchinson County resident since 1946. She came to Wellington in the late 1920s. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B. A. "Van" Vandivere in 1980. He was a Collingsworth County Commissioner from January 1, 1943 until December 31, 1946. A son, M.V. "Cotton" Vandivere, died in 1982.

Survivors include a son, Dewey Vandivere of Amarillo; a daughter, Vivian Dobbs of Fritch; a brother, Roy Brown of Wichita, KS; a sister, Lillie White of Wichita, KS; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Laura Vandivere of Borger is a daughter-in-law.
