Walter R. Weddington, 75, Borger, died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 1990 in Golden Plains Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Dietz, associate pastor, and the Rev. Ken Sheppard, pastor of Faith Covenant Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

A native of Lima, Ill., he had been a Borger resident since 1926. He was a bookkeeper for R&R Sheet Metal.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, substitute teacher of the couples Sunday School class, the Isom Masonic Lodge No. 1242, Lubbock Scottish Rite Consistory, and past Boy Scout Leader. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Mr. Weddington graduated from Borger High School in 1933 and was valedictorian of his class. He graduated from Amarillo College in 1935 and worked for Swift & Company as a bookkeeper before World War II. After the war, he came back to Borger and went to work for R&R Sheet Metal as a bookkeeper.

He married Othel DeWeese in 1980 in Borger.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Jean Weddington in 1946 and a brother [sic], Walter William Weddington in 1975.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Athene Sallee of Winston Salem, N.C.; and Patsy Wurl of Becher City, Ill.; one step-son, Leon DeWeese of Borger; one step-daughter, Helen West of Borger; three brothers, Rodney Weddington of Borger, Coleman Weddington of Mineral Wells; and Whitney Weddington of Omaha, Neb.; a half-brother, Dean Hunter of Villisca, Iowa; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
