Charles Ray Whitaker, 72, 407 East Adams, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday in Highland General Hospital in Pampa. He had been in the hospital for the past four weeks.

He was a retired Phillips employee and had lived in Borger for 20 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Mercia [sic] Bowden of Pampa; one sister, Jessie Hines of Rome, Ohio; two brothers, L.W. of Omaha, Neb., and A.J. of Youngstown, Ohio; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be D.M. Prater, Jerry Kelley, E.L. Burton, Raymond Luttrell, J.L. McMenamy and J.D. Upchurch.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Minton Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Oscar Mayo, pastor of East Side Baptist Church, will officiate. He will be assisted by Weldon Lewis.

Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Funeral Home.

Mrs. C.R. Whitaker, 66, of 407 East Adams, a Borger resident for the past 31 years, died as a result of a heart attack at 12:05 a.m. this morning at North Plains Hospital.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Royal Neighbors.

She is survived by her husband, Charley R. of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Marcia Bowden of Pampa; a sister, Mrs. Marie Stura of San Francisco; one brother, Roe Smikahl of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and a half brother, Herman Buhman of San Francisco; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services are pending with the Minton Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. C.R. Whitaker, 66, of 407 East Adams, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Minton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Moore, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. Weldon Lewis, associate pastor of Calvary Baptist.

Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Funeral Home. Mrs. Whitaker died at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday in the North Plains Hospital.
