Funeral services for Gus A. Yiantsou, 76, of 708 Weatherly, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Eastern Orthodox Church of Amarillo.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery following the services in Amarillo, under the direction of Minton's Mortuary.

Yiantsou, a Borger resident since 1926, died at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday at North Plains Hospital. He was born June 10, 1894 in Greece. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Amarillo.

Survivors are his wife, Kalyopi of the home; and a nephew, Chris Mucaka of Houston.

Yiantsou first came to the United States in Dec. 1910 to meet with his brother in St. Louis, Mo. On May 9, 1926, he came to Borger to make a living.

He was a member of the Borger Chamber of Commerce and served at staff sergeant in the Texas Defense Guard. He was also a life president of the St. John's Orthodox Church in Amarillo, and contributed regularly to Boy's Ranch. He was owner-manager of Grand Hardware Store on Main Street.

A Borger businessman for many years, Yiantsou also owns the White's Auto Store building, has rental apartments and owns other Borger property.

Services for Mrs. Kalyopi Yiantsou, 60, of 708 Weatherly will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. John Eastern Greek Orthodox Church in Amarillo with the Rev. Basil Kleoudis officiating.

Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Mortuary.

Mrs. Yiantsou died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.

She was born in Imroz Island, Turkey, and came to Borger when she married Gus Yiantsou in 1952. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971.

Surviving is a son, Chris, who is attending medical school in Lubbock.

Casketbearers will be Emmanuel Melotakis, Peter Botsonis, Daniel Kostas, Carl Williams, Ted Gikas and Robert Helams.

Honorary casketbearers will be George Georgeantonis, George Botsonis and Gus Manolas.
