Samuel Arlington Bentley was born in Nacogdoches County, Texas, on March 3, 1881 and passed away at his home on December 23, 1945, after a long illness.
He was married to Miss Cora E. McCuistion, at Duke, Okla., on March 3, 1901. To this union was born nine children, five of whom died in infancy. One son, Lonnie, preceded him in death two and one-half years ago.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons: Vernoa and Aubrey, of Canadian and Nollie, of Natches, Wash.; one brother, Drew, of Savoy, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Ada Ziegler, of San Antonio; Mrs. Minnie Sampley, of Bryson, Texas; and Mrs. Eunah Oliver, of Mainsfield, Texas.-Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Canadian, also survive.
Mr. Bentley and his family came to this country about thirty years ago. During this time he made many friends who will always remember him for the love he held for his fellowman and for the up building of his country. He was a devout Christian man and had worshipped in the Assembly of God church for the past ten years.
Funeral services were held at the Assembly of God church on Wednesday, December 26, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. A.R. Vaughn was in charge of the services. Pallbearers were: F.A. Blue, Frank Cole, Robert Briggs, B.H. Leonard, A.J. Worley and Perry Hazlewood. Burial was at the Wheeler cemetery.
