Services Held For J.A. (Jim) Garner

Services for J.A. (Jim) Garner, 78 of Wheeler were held on Friday, June 28, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Chleo Brown, pastor officiated. Burial was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Garner died Wednesday, June 26, 1991 in Parkview Hospital.

He was born November 13, 1912 in Lutie, TX to Charlie M. Garner and Alice Morris Garner. He married Marie Rosella Ripley on January 11, 1933 in Portales, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1987.

Mr. Garner had been a resident of Wheeler since 1933. He was a farmer and rancher and member of the Wheeler Riding Club and the Allison First Baptist Church.

Mr. Garner is survived by his son, James D. Garner of Wheeler; 5 sisters, Oleta Jones and Nell Bradstreet, both of Wheeler, Mary Hartley of Reydon, OK, Ruth Hoggard of Canyon and Betty McCoy of Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren, Wade Garner of Wheeler and Lenna Lear of Guymon, OK; one great granddaughter, Melissa Lear of Guymon, OK.

Pallbearers were Alvin Arganbright, Boyd Austin, Mac Christner, Jerry Hefley, Cecil Meadows, Wesley Steen.

Marie R. Garner Rites Are Read March 6

Marie R. Garner, 75, died Tuesday, March 4, 1987.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, in Landmark Baptist Missionary Church. Rev. Kenneth Anderson, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Garner was born at Comanche and was married to Jim Garner in 1933 at Portales, N.M. She had lived in Wheeler County since 1933. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son James D. of Wheeler; a brother, Victor Ripley of Temple; two sisters, Nettie Rogers of Comanche and Mattie Johnson of Big Spring; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Boyd Austin, Mac Christner, Frank Coates, Bill Mason, Cecil Meadows, Darrell Moore.
