WHEELER — James "Jimmy" Harold Hill, 74, of Wheeler died Sunday, March 30, 2014.

Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in United Methodist Church in Wheeler with the Rev. Matt Gary, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., of Amarillo.

Jimmy was born Feb. 25, 1940, in Wheeler to George Harold and Esther Wood Hill. Jimmy graduated from Wheeler High School and met and married the love of his life, Bobbye Carol Adams Hill, on March 23, 1962. Together they enjoyed traveling and family activities.

Jimmy was active in many civic affairs including having served on Wheeler City Council for 14 years, a director for First State Bank of Mobeetie for 25 years and Wheeler Chamber of Commerce. He was Wheeler Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year for 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne Hill; and a granddaughter, Courtney Tyree.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bobbye Hill of Wheeler; a son, Chip Hill and wife Pam of Wheeler; two daughters, Melissa Schooler and husband Rick of Amarillo and Sonya Tyree and husband Thomas of Wayside; seven grandchildren, Meredith Soleyjacks and RJ of Amarillo, Ethan Tyree of Wheeler, Mackenzie Schooler of Amarillo, Katie Hill of Austin, Kara Hill and Kylie Hill, both of Wheeler, and Orin Tyree of Wayside; and a great-granddaughter, Camriel Carol Soleyjacks.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Wheeler Historical Museum, P.O. Box 73, Wheeler, TX 79096.

February 12, 1944 - January 11, 2016

Bobbye Carol Adams Hill, age 71 of both Wheeler and Amarillo died January 11, 2016 in Amarillo. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Wheeler. The Rev. Matthew Gary will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia in Amarillo.

Bobbye Carol Adams Hill was born February 12, 1944 to Carroll Porter Adams and Roberta Amanda Wales in Amarillo, TX. Bobbye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmy, and granddaughter Courtney Tyree. Bobbye attended Wheeler Schools, New Mexico Jr. College in Hobbs, NM, and UTPB in Odessa Texas. She completed her Dr. of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University.

Bobbye married Jimmy Hill, March 23, 1962. Bobbye and Jimmy have 3 children; Melissa Hill Schooler and husband Rick of Amarillo, Chip Hill and wife Pam of Wheeler, Sonya Hill Tyree and husband Thomas of Wheeler. She has 8 grandchildren; Meredith Soleyjacks and husband R.J. of Amarillo, Ethan Tyree of Wheeler, Mackenzie Schooler of Amarillo, Katie Hill, Kara Hill, Kylie Hill of Wheeler, and Orin Tyree of Wheeler. She has two great-grandchildren; Camriel Carol Soleyjacks and Trey Soleyjacks. Bobbye has a heart sister Teda Seuhs and a heart granddaughter Shannon Mullins and husband James.

Bobbye taught school in Odessa, TX and Wheeler, TX. She and her husband Jimmy owned BJ’s Wearhouse in Wheeler, TX. Bobbye worked for the 7th District Court of Appeals in Amarillo, TX. She was also the County Attorney for Wheeler County. Bobbye and Jimmy sold real estate in Wheeler and worked in the development of Wheeler with Sandy Basin Townhomes and were proprietors of the City Drug Bed and Breakfast.

Bobbye belonged to the Wheeler Chamber of Commerce Board, Wheeler School Board Trustee, Amarillo Soroptomist Club, Thursday Review Club in Wheeler, President of Wheeler Band Boosters, Board of Old Mobeetie Association, President of Wheeler Historical Museum, Founding Member of Texas Plains Trail Board, Wheeler Chamber of Commerce, Woman of the Year for Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Financial Group of Canadian, and a brand new member of the DAR.

Bobbye loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel with her Travel Buddies: Donna Walser, Ruth Smith, Marcie Smith, Mandy Nelson, Connie Porter, and Carol Porton. She loved history of our family and Wheeler County. She loved to travel to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Central America, Columbia, Venezuela, China, Alaska, and Hawaii.

Bobbye wants to thank Dr. Reddy, Valerie, and Gayla at Texas Oncology, Interim Hospice, especially Jennifer and Gloria and the staff at Plum Creek Specialty Hospital for their care.
