*Obituary Lawrence Rush
L.R. Barry, a resident of this area for the past 30 years, passed away at his home here Tuesday morning about 9:30 o'clock after an illness of several months.

Mr. Barry was a familiar figure around Wheeler before he became ill late last fall having worked in the AAA farm program, then with the Wheeler County Rural Health Services and later at the Holt Brothers Lumber Co. Failing health caused his resignation from his position as bookkeeper at the lumber yard. Prior to moving to Wheeler, he had engaged in farming near Briscoe and prior to that he had been employed in farm and ranch activities the greater part of his life.

Funeral services for Mr. Barry were conducted from the Wheeler Baptist Church this morning (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. M.B. Smith, pastor, in charge assisted by Rev. Darris Egger, pastor of the Methodist Church and Rev. Gene Hudnall, pastor of the Nazarene Church here.

L.R. Barry was born in Bosque County, November 11, 1884 and passed away at his home in Wheeler, April 15, 1952, at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 4 days.

Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Ola Barry; three daughters, Mrs. Cleo Davis of Levelland, Mrs. Helen Raley of Barstow, Calif., and Mrs. Nelda Bush of Wheeler; two sons, L.H. Barry of Amarillo, and Frank Barry of Albuquerque, N.M.; and one step-son, C.E. (Doc) Wilhelm; five sisters, Mrs. Lee Hill of Alto, Mrs. Bill Day of Mangum, Okla., Mrs. Bob Duncan of Hico, Mrs. Reagan Cavness and Mrs. W.E. Cavness both of Hollis, Okla.; three brothers, George Barry of Amarillo, Lee Barry of Briscoe and Raymond Barry of Hollis, Okla.; and 21 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. One son, one daughter and two brothers preceded him in death.

Pall bearers were: Glen Hibbitts, R.J. Holt, Sr., Shelby Pettit, Jud Johnson, Clarence Zybach and J.C. Howell.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
