SHAMROCK - Two Shamrock businesswomen were victims of an automobile-pickup truck collision Sunday night, south of the city limits on U.S. Highway 83.

Officers reported that the accident occurred as the car driven by Mrs. Ruby Gibson, 70, started to make a U-turn on the highway and collided with a pickup truck driven by Joe Frank Knolle of Samnorwood.

Mrs. Gibson, owner of Adams Hardware was pronounced dead at the scene. Mrs. Louise Vermillion, 64, owner of Louise's Flowers, died shortly after, at Shamrock General Hospital. Another passenger in the Gibson car, Mrs. Gladys B. Tindall, 72, was reported in satisfactory condition last night at St. Anthony's Hospital, Amarillo.

Knolle was uninjured and his nine-year-old daughter Stacy was treated and released from Shamrock General Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vermillion were held at 2 p.m. today in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Julius Early, pastor, and the Rev. Jim Scott, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial was in Shamrock Cemetery by Richerson Funeral Home.

She is survived by one son, Harry Vermillion of Fritch; three daughters, Mrs. Laverne Baxter and Miss Ladon Vermillion, both of Shamrock and Mrs. Betty Miller of Duncan, Okla.; one brother, C.B. Donley of Amarillo; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services for Mrs. Gibson will be at 10:30 Wednesday also in the First United Methodist Church. The Reverends Early and Scott will officiate along with the Rev. Lyman Wood pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Borger. Burial for Mrs. Gibson will be in Wheeler Cemetery, with services under the direction of Clay Funeral Home of Shamrock.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Adams of Shamrock, David Adams of Dallas and Michael Adams of Sells, Ariz.; a stepson, Billy Jack Gibson of Beaumont; four sisters, Mrs. Jewel Holt and Mrs. Pearl Morris, both of Borger, Mrs. Kitty Ware of Clovis, N.M. and Mrs. Orville Greenhouse of Mobeetie and seven grandchildren.
