Funeral Mass for Petra Mejia, age 97 of Seminole, Texas will be celebrated Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Jose De Dios Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. Rosary will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church from 6 to 7 p.m. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mejia was born June 19, 1924 in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico to Augustina Olvera and Cresencio Ramirez. She married Crespin Mejia in Ft. Stockton, Texas on June 5, 1939 and was a member of St. James Catholic Church where she was very involved in the ministry, Altar Society, and a member of the Guadalupanas. She was also an associate and missionary of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. She loved cooking and had previously owned and operated the Monterey Restaurant for thirty years along with her husband. She was very active with Meals on Wheels and was known to be a great caregiver. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting in her spare time.

Petra Mejia went home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at her home in Seminole, Texas. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Crespin Mejia in 1985; one daughter, Augustina Mejia; three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by one son, Sammy Mejia and wife Mari of Hobbs, New Mexico; three daughters, Sister Feliciana (Lupe) Mejia of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of San Antonio, Texas, Mary De Los Santos of Seminole, Texas, and Alice Grado and husband Ruben, Sr. of Seminole, Texas; three brothers, Juan Ramirez of Seminole, Texas, Joe Ramirez and wife Angie of Ft. Stockton, Texas, and Jesse Ramirez and wife Elida of Hillsboro, Texas; two sisters, Tomasa Ramos and husband Lorenzo of Seminole, Texas, and Mary Rodriguez and husband Armando of Seguin, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
