KILLEEN — Staff Sgt. Harold Brent Lee, 45, of Killeen died Thursday, June 7, 2012.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in First Baptist Church in Wheeler with the Rev. Randy Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery. Arrangements are by Peppers Family Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Staff Sgt. Lee was born Aug. 3, 1966, in Wheeler to Mr. Harold Loyd Lee and Mrs. Sylvia Nell Smith. He graduated from Wheeler Independent School District in 1985. Staff Sgt. Lee entered the Army on Aug. 1, 1987. He completed his basic training and combat signaler training at Fort Gordon, Ga. He served on active duty for more than 11 years and served his past three years with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 7th Battalion, and 158th Aviation Regiment at Fort Hood.

Staff Sgt. Lee's awards include Army Commendation medal fifth award, Army Achievement medal fourth award, Army Good Conduct medal fourth award, Army Reserve Components Achievement medal, National Defense Service medal second award, Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, Armed Forces Service medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with No. 2, Army Service ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon with No. 3, NATO medal, Global War on Terrorism service medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship badge M-16 Rifle, Driver's badge, The Army Lapel button and the Adjutant General Individual Award.

Staff Sgt. Lee was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he was actively involved in the singles ministry. He was an avid Texas Longhorns football fan. He enjoyed fishing and bicycling. His true love was the military.

He is preceded in death by his father and a sister, Joanie Lee Brogdon.

Survivors include his mother, Sylvia Shuler and husband Leo of Wheeler; a brother, Mike Lee and wife Tina of Wheeler; and three sisters, Lucretia Davis and husband Eddie of Wheeler, Melannie Gates and husband Roy of Weatherford, Okla., and Lori Barnes and husband Justin of Stephenville.
