Bill Levitt, 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 10, 2011.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., with Sherman Eastland, chaplain of Odyssey Hospice, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Wheeler Cemetery.

Bill was born April 10, 1931, in Wheeler to Carl Milton and Juanita Bradstreet Levitt. He graduated from Allison High School. He then served in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea.

He resided in Wheeler for many years and was employed with TxDOT in Canadian. Bill then moved to Amarillo where, he resided for the last 25 years.

He worked for Burlington Railroad in rail maintenance. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and reading his Bible and eating out at local restaurants.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Arabie; and two brothers, Jerry Levitt and Don Levitt.

Survivors include three brothers, Gene Levitt and wife Liz of Amarillo, Larry Levitt and wife Ann of Portland, Ore., and Tom Levitt and wife Shelley of Johnson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Odyssey Hospice, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
