Louis Martin, 69, Rites Will Be Read Thursday
Louis Martin, 69, died Tuesday, April 25, 1995.
Services will be at 3 p.m Thursday in the Wheeler Church of Christ with Bill Morrison, minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Martin was born at Wheeler, Texas, on April 23, 1926, to Pyrmon A. and Ardie Sivage Martin. He was raised in Wheeler and was graduated from Wheeler High School. He married Joyce Henson on January 7, 1947, at Wheeler. They lived in McLean, Shamrock and Abilene prior to moving to Amarillo in 1975. They returned to Wheeler in 1989.
Mr. Martin was employed as a distributor for Morton Foods for 21 years, and was employed by Affiliated Foods for 10 years. After he returned to Wheeler he was employed by the Wheeler Independent School District as a bus driver, and also worked for Lee Hardware. He was a member of the Wheeler Church of Christ. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his father in 1979 and a grandson, Eric Snowden in December, 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Wheeler; a son, Joe Wayne Martin of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Gay Louise Snowden of San Antonio, Texas; his mother, Ardie Martin of Wheeler; two brothers, Happy Martin of McAlester, Oklahoma and Bob Martin of Wheeler; a sister, Ida Mae Goad of Wheeler; four grandchildren, Scott Martin, Jeremy Martin, Sara Snowden and Joshua Snowden.
The family suggests memorials be to the Diabetes Association (Box 636, Norman, Ok 73070), American Heart Association or a favorite charity.

Joyce Lee (Henson) Martin

Wheeler, TX; - Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Shamrock Church of Christ with Cottie Tarbet, officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Peppers Family Funeral Home in Wheeler, Texas. A private family burial will take place prior to the service at the Wheeler Cemetery.
Joyce Lee Martin, of Shamrock, Texas passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the age of 88.
She joins her husband Louis Martin, her grandson Eric, her mother Gertie, and her four siblings Berl, Ross, Frances and Hauty Belle in Heaven. Survivors include her son and his wife, Joe and Linda, her daughter and her husband, Gay and Rick, as well as six grandchildren, Scott, Jeremy, Carrie, Sara, Kit, Joshua, and a great-grandson, Reid.
Joyce graduated from nursing school in 1972. Even after retirement, Joyce stayed active as an in-home healthcare worker. Her joy came from attending church, visiting kin-folk and baking cakes and pies for her neighbors in the surrounding area.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: 2212 North West 50th Street, Suite 158C Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
