Rex R. Miller, 78, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at Amarillo. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church at Wheeler with the Rev. Andy Taylor, of Sayre, Okla., and Clyde Dukes, of Allison, officiating. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Miller was born June 20, 1918, on Sweetwater Creek in Wheeler County and had been a lifelong Wheeler County resident. He married Virginia Dillon on April 8, 1940, at Sayre, Okla. He had been a resident of Allison since 1953 and owned and operated a grocery store, retiring in 1982. He farmed prior to moving to Allison. He was a Shriner, a member of the Scottish Rite and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Wheeler. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Allison; two daughters, Texas Patton of Montague and Lynda Banger of Amarillo; two sons, Kelly Miller of Hugoton, Kan., and Jim Miller of Spearman; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to Shriner's Hospital in Dallas or to a favorite charity.

ALLISON - Virginia Miller, 80, died Monday, June 10, 2002, in Spearman.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Smith, pastor of First Christian Church in Spearman, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Miller was born in Wakefield, Neb., to Archie and Julia Bohannon Dillon. She was raised and lived her life in Allison.

She married Rex R. Miller on April 8, 1940, in Sayre, Okla. She assisted her husband in operating Miller Grocery in Allison. She was a member of Allison Methodist Church and a member of Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; her parents; and a brother, Neville Dillon.

Survivors include two sons, Kelly Miller and wife, Debie, of Hugoton, Kan., and Jim Miller and wife, Marlene, of Spearman; two daughters, Texas Patton and husband, Sammy, of Montague, and Lynda Banger and husband, Mark, of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 S. Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
