Ebbie Radford Newberry died at his home in Wheeler at 8:20 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 1963.
Funeral services were held at the Wheeler Methodist Church. Robert Ely, minister of the church and Rev. Frank Ross, minister of te [sic] Wheeler Baptist Church, officiated at the last rites. Interment was in the Wheeler cemetery beside his wife who passed away April 26, 1946, under the direction of Kirk Funeral Home.
Mr. Newberry was born at Lane's Chapel in Bosque County, Texas, June 16, 1896. He came to Wheeler from Goodlet [sic], Texas, in 1925.
He was married to the late Lillian Dean Rosser, April 16, 1935, in Oklahoma.
He was a member of the Wheeler Methodist church and served in the army in World War I. Mr. Newberry had been in ill health for the past two years, but death came suddenly and unexpectedly.
Surviving are three sons, Charles and Dean of Wheeler, and Jerry of Texas A&M College Station; Mrs. Sid Rosser, Wellington, mother-in-law; a brother, A.C. Newberry, Amarillo; sister, Mrs. Bess Brooks, Santa Cruise, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers were W.L. Williams, Terrell Gunter, Harry Woffod [sic], Dick DeArment, S.L. Ivy and Frank Walker.
