Mildred Blanch Porter, 84, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 1994.
Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Helsley, pastor, and the Rev. Robert Parrish of Gatesville officiating. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mrs. Porter was born in Ireland, Tx. She married George W. Porter in 1930 at Ireland; he died in 1973. She moved to Wheeler in 1930. She graduated from Tarleton State University in 1972. She taught in Mobeetie and gave private Spanish lessons. She was a former worthy matron of the Wheeler Eastern Star Lodge and a former member of the Wednesday Study Club. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgie Snyder of Bethesda, Md., and Jo Ann Talor [sic] of Wheeler; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Milton Dunlop, Richard Porter, James Hampton, Lavon Williams, Duane Porter and David Zybach. Honorary Pallbearers w3ere Wayne Edwards, Cecil Pierce and Jim Porter.
The family request memorials be to First Baptist Church or a favorite charity.
