WHEELER - N.L. "Shorty" Sechrist, 80, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1993.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Helsley, pastor, and the Rev. Kerry Moore, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Sechrist was born in Erath County and moved to Collingsworth County with his family at an early age. He attended schools in the Dozier and Abra communities. He married Sallie Neece in 1945 at Shamrock. He moved to his farm in Wheeler County in 1945. He was a farmer and had served two terms as Wheeler County commissioner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Wheeler Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Sonny Sechrist of Wichita Falls, Richard Sechrist of Loveland, Colo., and Calvin Sechrist of Katy; a daughter, LaDonna Henley of Caldwell; two brothers, John Sechrist of Hurst and Orville Sechrist of Arvin, Calif.; four sisters, Lucille Laycock of Pampa, Nalda Bonds of Altus, Okla., Irene Smith of Houston and Dorothy Darrow of Dozier; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to First Baptist Church.
