WHEELER - Elbert "Ebb" Smith, 81, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. today in Wheeler Cemetery with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Wheeler, officiating. Arrangements were by Wright Funeral Home in Wheeler.
Mr. Smith was born in Bowie and moved to Wheeler in 1933 from Shamrock. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
For 20 years Mr. Smith was employed as a mechanic for Blakemore Motor Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He married Patsy Worley in 1947 at Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale Smith of Oklahoma City and Joe Smith of Wheeler; a daughter, Jennifer Smith of Shamrock; a brother, Bill Smith of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.

Wheeler, TX – Services for Patsy Sue Smith, 83, of Wheeler, TX will be at the First Baptist Church in Wheeler, TX on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Marty Field, officiating. Burial will follow at Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Peppers Family Funeral Home in Wheeler, Texas.
Mrs. Smith passed away Saturday, April 6th, 2013 at her home in Wheeler, TX.
Patsy Sue Smith was born July 2, 1929 in Kelton, TX to the late Clyde Hannon Worley and Bessie Alice (Ernest) Worley. Patsy attended school in Kelton where she graduated in 1947. She married Elbert W. "Ebb" Smith on July 5, 1947 at Wheeler, TX. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1998. Mrs. Smith was a bookkeeper at Thriftway Market Square and retired from there in 2001. She enjoyed her co-workers and visiting with the customers that came into the store. Patsy had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Wheeler for fifty plus years. She loved the Lord and her church family. They really were "family" to her. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and was an avid basketball fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; four sisters.
Patsy is survived by two sons, Dale Smith of Liberal, Kansas, Joe Smith of Stinnett, Texas; one daughter Jennifer Mixon of McLean, Texas; two sisters, Billie Holcombe of Wheeler, Texas, Audrey Gould of Mineola, Texas; seven grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren.
The family strongly suggests memorials to a charity of your choice.
