Services for Paul David Topper, 63, of Wheeler will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 1991 at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Weldon Rives, pastor, and Bill Morrison, minister of the Wheeler Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler.
Topper died Tuesday, March 5, 1991, in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo following a brief illness. He was born December 29, 1937 [sic] in Wheeler county, Texas to George Herman Topper and Nancy Ann Myers. He has been a resident of Wheeler all his life. He attended Allison schools and served in the United State military during World War II and in the Korean Conflict.
Paul Topper married Yreva Sue Carter Richerson on June 1, 1963, in Wheeler, Texas.
Paul Topper served as District Clerk for a period of 24 years and had taken his oath of office in January.
He was a member of the American Legion, Texas Clerk's Association, member and Past Master of the Wheeler Masonic Lodge, member and Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and served several years as a member of the Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department.
Topper is survived by his wife, Yreva, of the home; one son, Paul Topper of Wheeler; four daughters, Sue Stiles and Sally Ledbetter of Wheeler, Sibyl Clark of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sherry Hawks of Idalou; one brother, Herman Topper of Borger; three sisters, Katie Finsterwald and Mary Ann Maxwell of Wheeler and Wanda Mitchell of Pampa; and twelve grandchildren.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Wheeler Cemetery Association or Methodist Children's Home in Waco.
