Enriqueta Lopez Pena, 87 of San Isidro, Texas passed away peacefully on February 16, 2017. She was born in Rio Grande City, Texas on September 7, 1929. She married her soul mate and love of her life, Merced Pena on February 1, 1953.
Her legacy lives on through her children: Son, Joe Pena (Diana), daughters, Mary Vela (Danny) and Mimi Herrera. Her pride and joy - her grandchildren-who will remember her fondly for all her acts of kindness and love: Daniel Vela (Mica), Michael Vela (Cynthia), Jennifer Robinson (Christopher), Nicholas Pena, Gabriel Pena, Lucas Pena (Aileen) and Jason Pena. Her great grandchildren who made her smile: Eden Pena, Olivia Vela, Chloe Vela, Ava Vela, Jaxon Robinson and Parker Robinson. Also left to cherish her memories are her sisters, Elena Garza and Elvira Cortez and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Enriqueta's heavenly family greeting her includes her parents Rosendo and Isabel Lopez, her husband Merced Pena, her daughter - Janie Salinas, her brother - Roman Lopez, her sisters Ernestina Garcia and Nena Garcia.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, Texas.
Visitation will be held today, February 17, 2017 from 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Viewing will continue on Saturday Morning, 10 a.m. at St. Isidro Catholic Church in San Isidro. The Funeral Mass will start at 11a.m.
Burial will follow at the Pena Cemetery in San Isidro, Texas.
Pallbearers are: Daniel Vela, Michael Vela, Nick Pena, Gabriel Pena, Lucas Pena, Honorary Pallbearer Chris Robinson.
Mom's faith and her love for the Lord and the Virgin Mary were strong and unwavering. She spend her entire life taking care and doing for her family. Her thoughtfulness made each of us feel special. Mom will be greatly missed - her memories will live on forever in our hearts.
Thank you to the staff of Amara Hospice made mom's last days comfortable and peaceful. Thank you to everyone who visited, asked about and prayed for our mom. Special thanks to Sylvia, mom's caregiver and constant companion, these last couple of years. Sylvia's care and devotion was the reason mom was never alone. Mom was truly blessed.
