January 13, 1926 - February 21, 2015
Billie Arlene Avara Ball Jackson, 89, went to be with her Lord on February 21, 2015. Funeral services honoring her memory will be held Wednesday February 25, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Lamesa with Roy Byrd and Wayne Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Billie Jackson was born in Peacock, Tx to William Arthur Avara and Willie Carol Davis Avara on January 13, 1926. The family moved to the farming community of Afton, Texas where she attended Patton Springs School. On November 19, 1942 she married Loyd G. Ball in Afton, Tx. Later with their two daughters, they moved to the Friendship community, west of Lamesa, attending Friendship Baptist Church. In 1953 they moved to the Key community, east of Lamesa and attended Key Baptist Church. They made their home in Lamesa in 1967 and lived there until his death in 1980. They made many wonderful friendships during their life together.
On April 26, 1986 Billie joined her family with that of Junnier J. Jackson's family enjoying 20 years of marriage together sharing children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Junnier preceded her in death on February 22, 2007. The families remember Billie as having a great love for her husband, their families, enjoying cooking for them, and entertaining the grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and keeping her home to perfection. She loved the Lord, receiving Christ as her Savior at a young age and enjoyed serving others all her life. She will be missed greatly by all.
Her surviving children and step-children are, Barbara Porterfield and husband Kenneth of Lamesa; Cindy WIliams and husband, Ralph of Lubbock, Shirley Wallace of Conway, Ark, Mary Jane Archer and husband, Hugh of Lubbock, Don Jackson and wife, Carolyn of Pantego, Melonie Server and husband, Randy of Lubbock. Additionally, she is survived by 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Varnell of Granbury; and brother, John Avara and wife, Mary of Denver City.
