*Obituary Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home

Raquel "Rachel" Acosta McCorkle, 74, left us on September 28, 2016 with her family by her side at Cibolo Creek Rehabilitation Center.
Rachel was born of immigrant parents on June 6, 1944 in Eagle Pass, Texas where she graduated from Eagle Pass High School in 1964. After graduation, Rachel worked as a dental office assistant in Eagle Pass where she met, and is now survived by her husband of 47 years.
Rachel dedicated her early adulthood to being a loving wife and caring mother. Her fondness for motherhood and children led to an increased passion for education. As a result of her growing desire to teach, Rachel enrolled in the University of Texas (Pan American) where she became the first person in her family to earn a Bachelor's Degree. She spent her remaining professional years teaching elementary children for McAllen and Eagle Pass ISD.
After retirement, Rachel and her husband settled in Boerne, TX where she joined the Catholic Daughters of America helping others and reaffirming the Catholic faith instilled in her since childhood.
Rachel was a vibrant, outgoing person who never met a person she didn't know. Even those that she didn't know somehow, someway, always knew her. Until the very end of her days, she handled her cancer with grace and dignity. She lived her life with passion, she loved her family unconditionally and she faced death with unwavering courage. She will be missed but not forgotten.
Rachel is survived by her husband, James Hampton McCorkle, and her son, Phillip Hampton McCorkle. She is also survived by a brother Daniel Acosta.
The Family wishes to sincerely thank everyone for their support and love during these hard times.
In lieu of flowers, please express your support through donations made to the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 202 W. Kronkosky,Boerne, Texas 78006.
