HEREFORD - Virginia B. Adams, 83, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Fuller officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery of Hereford by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford.
Ms. Adams was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Lubbock, the daughter of Irwin and Robert Barr. She married Milton Adams on June 15, 1941, in Lubbock. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University and moved to Hereford in 1946.
She was appointed the first president of the Deaf Smith County Chamber of Commerce Women's Division in 1968.
She later served as a member of the task force and beautification committee in which she was very instrumental in helping erect the "Windmill Park" next to the Santa Fe Railroad Depot. She was also named "Woman of the Year" in 1979 by the chamber of commerce.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and three sisters.
Survivors include a son, Bryan Adams of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Cody Adams of Austin and Jacy Adams of Christoval; three nephews; and a niece.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
