OBITUARYJOEL ADKINS February 5, 2007 Joel Adkins, 71, of Andrews passed away peacefully Monday February 5, 2007 at Home Hospice House in Odessa after an agonizing battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Dr. Jeff Donnell Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Joel was born May 18, 1935 in Ryan, Oklahoma. Joel served it the US Army. He married Mary Beth Taylor, May 27, 1961 in Dallas. He lived in Andrews from 1957 until 1964 when he and Mary Beth moved to Carrollton Texas. Joel was very involved in his community. He was active as a volunteer fireman, served on the City Zoning board; Jr. Deacon at First Baptist Church in Dallas was a deacon at First Baptist Church Carrollton. He was active in United Way, Toastmasters and the Masonic Lodge. He worked for Halliburton for 30 years in International Sales, and had invented several tools used in the oil and gas industry and also held several Halliburton patents for oil field, down-hole equipment. He retired in 1994 and in 1996 He and Mary Beth moved back to Andrews from Phoenix, Arizona. Joel is now in heaven, no doubt entertaining angels with his humor in a pain free body. Joel was a great father, grandfather, husband, Brother in law, Christian and friend. Joel was a friend to all and a stranger to none.

He is survived by: His Wife - Mary Beth Adkins of Andrews, Texas; Two Daughters - L'Jon Gryder and husband Guy of Orange, Texas; Angie Rodebaugh and husband Mike of Orange County, California; Two Brothers - Bobby Adkins of Prescott, AZ; and Darrell Adkins of Andrews; and Three Grandchildren - Noah, Joel and Kate Rodebaugh of Orange County, California. We trust that "all things work together for good to those who love God, who are called according to his promise." Romans 8:28.

*Obituary Mary Beth
Mary Beth Adkins, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2019 from heart failure. She was born February 13th, 1934 in Dallas Texas to Walton Sneed and Julia Taylor. She married the love of her life, Joel Adkins, who proceeded her in death in 2007.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 2, 2019, Graveside at the Andrews Old Cemetery, 1401 W. Broadway, with Noah Rodebaugh officiating. Services are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, Texas. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 10 – 12 PM. A service was held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California.

Mary Beth was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary Beth enjoyed meeting new people. She was a very social person. In addition to her role as a greeter at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest CA, she also loved to play the Ukulele, Bingo, painting and spending time with her family. Mary Beth witnessed to countless people throughout the years and always made time for her family and friends. She had a servant’s heart. Mary Beth retired from teaching in Texas after 35 years. After her husband’s death Mary Beth moved to California to be closer to her grandchildren, daughter and son in law. She loved the palm trees and the beautiful mountains. She mentioned on many occasions that she felt like she had moved to paradise. Mary Beth trusted that the Lord would lead her and mentioned often that “God is in Control”. Her favorite verse was Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

Mary Beth is survived by her two daughters L’Jon Gryder, and Angie Rodebaugh and son in law Michael Rodebaugh, two grandsons Noah and Joel Rodebaugh and granddaughter Kate Rodebaugh, her brother Dan Taylor and sister in law Beverly Taylor, Sister in law Betty Taylor, Sister and Brother in Law Bobby and Johnnie Adkins and Sister and Brother in Law Darrell and Phyllis Adkins. Mary Beth had many cousins, nieces and nephews that were very special to her. A niece, Kathy Hirsch and her husband Reece Hirsch were extremely close to Mary Beth and the Rodebaugh’s prior to and after she moved to California. Mary Beth felt family should always come first. Mary Beth loved her family deeply.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PADRE Foundation (Pediatric Association of Diabetes Research and Education) or the American Heart Association.
