Funeral Services for Mary Ruth Barrett, 87, of Gilbert, Arizona will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 19, 2014 at Latter Day Saints Chapel. Interment will follow in West Park Cemetery under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Barrett a former longtime Hereford resident passed away in Gilbert, Arizona on Saturday, September 6, 2014.
Mary Ruth Russell was born April 14, 1927 to William and Nora Daniel Russell in Hereford. She married the love of her life, Fred Spencer Barrett Jr. on May 1, 1948 in Hereford. Mrs. Barrett was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She was very dedicated to her family. Mrs. Barrett was very charitable and was a hard working, tough lady.
She survived by one daughter Becky Simpson and husband Steven of Star Valley, WY., four sons: Spencer Barrett of Queens Creek, AZ, Russell Barrett and wife Carol of Austin, Daniel Barrett and wife Laura Leigh of Albuquerque and Andrew Barrett and wife Jane of Austin, two special daughters-in-law: Denise Barrett of Las Cruses and Cindy Barrett of Lewiston, ID. 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Spencer Barrett Jr., a son Larry Barrett. Eight brothers: Max Russell, Artis Russell, Jack Russell, Daniel Russell, L.B. “Scat” Russell, Babe Russell, David Russell, Jess Russell and one sister Nora Jeane Gesskin.
The family suggest memorials in Mrs. Barrett’s name be made to the Hospice of the Valley, 15649 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, Arizona.
