FRIONA - James Ross Braxton, 80, of Weatherford, Okla., died Monday, April 20, 1992, in Weatherford.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Friona with the Rev. Charles Broadhurst, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis Blackwell Funeral Home.

Mr. Braxton wasd born April 6, 1912 at Twitty and attended school at Shamrock. He worked as a rancher in the Texas Panhandle. He married Christine Southall Sept. 26, 1942, at Friona. He moved to Black, where he and his wife opened a grain elevator in 1946. They retired in 1969 and in 1975 moved to Edmond, Okla., then to Weatherford in 1977. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Friona. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Braxton of Luther, Okla., and Ray Braxton of Austin; two brothers, A.C. Braxton of Hereford and Jim Braxton of Beulah, Colo.; a sister, Sue Ray of Albuquerque; and a grandchild.

WEATHERFORD, Okla. — Christine Joyce Southall Braxton, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Lockstone Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Bryant officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. in Friona Cemetery in Friona, Texas. Arrangements are by Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford.

Mrs. Braxton was born Jan. 4, 1924, in DeLeon, Texas, to Porter and Fannie Brumbelow Southall. She married James Ross “Pete” Braxton on Sept. 26, 1942, in Friona.

Survivors include a sister, Anna Jo Smith of Del City; and a stepgranddaughter.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
