J L BLAKE
CRANE: J L Blake, 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Lamun Lusk Sanchez Veterans Home in Big Spring.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, March 26, 2010.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Crane County Cemetery with Reverend Tommy Parker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane.
J L was born on August 30, 1923 in Henrietta, Oklahoma. He was a longtime resident of Crane, and a W.W.II Army Veteran. J L retired from El Paso Natural Gas, and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Blake in 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Blake and his wife Debbie of Hobbs, NM, Carl Blake and his wife Julia of Livingston, TX; his daughter, Connie Calobreves of Midland; two step sons, Bill Johnson and his wife Paquita of Kingsland, TX and Steve Wilkes and his wife Kaila of Littleton, CO; a step daughter, Charlotte Skinner and her husband Mike of Texarkana, TX; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

CRANE --
Hazel J. Blake, 85 of Midland, and formerly of Crane, died on Saturday, October 2, 2004 in the Manor Park retirement home.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2004 in the Crane County Cemetery with Reverend Tommy Parker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Hazel was born on November 30, 1918 in DeLeon, Texas. She married J.L. Blake on July 2, 1965. She had lived in Crane from 1952 until 1998. She had worked for Johnny Alexander's Grocery in Crane, and had also worked for Phillips Petroleum in Odessa in the Gas Department. She was also a homemaker, and a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Effie Patterson Gray, and a sister, Edith Carol.
She is survived by her husband, J.L. Blake of Hobbs, NM; four sons, Steve Wilkes and his wife Kaila of Littleton, Colorado, William Johnson and his wife Paquita of Midland, Curtis Blake and his wife Debbie of Hobbs, NM, and Carl Blake and his wife Julia of Midland; two daughters, Charlotte Skinner and her husband Mike of Texarkana, and Connie Calobreves, of Midland; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
