Mary Louvenia Edwards Johnson
1924-2003
Mary Louvenia Johnson died August 27, 2003 in Mitchell County Hospital after a
long illness with cancer. She was born July 14, 1924 in Terrell, Texas to Charles
Edwards and Beulah Fields Edwards who preceded her in death. She was also
preceded in death by her son, Robert Bracy, III.
Mary Louvenia and her family moved from Terrell to Colorado City in 1931. She
attended Wallace School. She was employed by Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Robinson
where she worked for 48 years until she was forced to retire because of her
illness.
Mary was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was very active.
She served on the Usher Board, Missionary Society, Choir and was a Deaconess.
She was active in the entire church body.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist
Church under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Bledsoe
officiating. Eulogy was delivered by Sister Faye Ross Gonzales.
Mary Johnson is survived by her brother, Charles Edward (Myrtle) of Colorado City;
a nephew, Charles Edward of Denton: her daughter, Mary Smith (Lawrence) of
Colorado City, granddaughters, Lisa Bracy, Taylor (Raymond); a great-grandson,
Raymond, all of Maryland; granddaughter, Jackie Smith of Big Spring; a stepdaughter
Barbara Johnson and her children, Shavon and Tony; and Barbara's grandchildren, James,
Theresa, Ebony and Marcus, all of Colorado City.
