Rites Held Sunday For Long Time Resident of This County
Last rites for Mrs. W.W. Bennett were held Sunday afternoon at the First Christian Church with Min. H.M. Redford officiating. She died at her home early Saturday morning after an illness of several weeks. She was 72 years and eight days of age. Interment was in West Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, three sons, Earl V. of Amarillo, C.W. and Hillie of Hereford; three daughters, Mrs. H.D. Reed of Hereford, Mrs. A.D. Smith of Fort Worth and Mrs. Frank Jesse of Amarillo; two sisters, Mrs. Monroe Blankenship of Gatesville, and Mrs. B.H. Melborn, both of Gatesville. Other relatives here to attend the services included Alex Bennett and son, A.B. of Gatesville, Mrs. H.B. Harrison, Mrs. Bob Bennett and Horace Bennett of Crawford.
Susan Elizabeth Bennett was born September 13, 1886 [sic] in Tennessee. On December 23, 1883 she married W.W. Bennett at Coryell City. They moved to Hereford in 1909 from Coryell county. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Pallbearers were Criss Renfro, Wiley Roberson, Jim Roberson, Troy Moore, Wallace Cox and Nestor Gass.
Out of town friends here for the funeral of Mrs. W.W. Bennett held Sunday included; Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Herndon, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Williams, Dr. and Mrs. J.L. Vick, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crabtree, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. McClintock, Mr. and Mrs. F.S. Gilbreath, Dr. and Mrs. Bob Younger, Dr. Evelyn Powers, Mrs. J.P. Whittington, Mr. and Mrs. Chas L. Gass, Mrs. Paul Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Chaddock and Mrs. McDonald, all of Amarillo; Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Barnett of Plainview; Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Hutchison of Tulia and Mr. and Mrs. N.E. McIntyre of Canyon.
