Funeral services for Maydene Chapman, 73, of Lamesa will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Crestview Baptist Church with Brother Charles Empey officiating. Interment will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, February 14, 2014 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.

Maydene passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in Lubbock. She was born November 4, 1940 in Oak Grove, Louisiana to Joe and Vera (Dye) Stringer. Maydene married Billy Chapman May 24, 1957 in Woody Baptist Church; they were married for 56 years. Maydene's grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved spending time with them. She was very giving and compassionate and always put others before herself. She is survived by her husband, Billy Chapman of Lamesa; children, Vicky Wellborn and husband, McGlaun of Roswell, NM, Nicky Chapman and wife, Rhonda of Lamesa, Shannon Lathrop and husband, Robert of Hobbs, NM; sister, Joan Moore of Welch; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Maydene is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Sam Stringer. The family suggests memorials to Crestview Baptist Church where she was a charter member, 610 N. Ave. V, Lamesa, TX, 79331.
