Funeral services for Dolores Andrade Cortez age 99 of Lamesa will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the church of La Hermosura De Dios with Pastor Geno Salazar officiating. Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the church La Hermosura De Dios.
Dolores passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Lamesa. She was born on June 9, 1919 in Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico. Dolores married Paulino Cortez on October 28, 1939 in Runnels County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paulino Cortez; her sons, Melquiades R. Cortez and Paulino Cortez, Jr.; her daughters, Jesusa Cortez, Barbara Cortez, and Angela Cortez; her parents, Juan and Concepcion Andrade; her brothers, Juan Andrade, Jr., Trinidad Andrade, and Jesus Andrade; her sister, Maria Andrade; her grand-daughter, Ida Marie Gonzalez; her great-great-grandson, Nehemiah Ojeda.
Family was everything to Dolores. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved watching children play.
Dolores is survived by her family, her sons, Pedro Cortez of Robstown, Texas, Alberto Cortez of Sinton, Texas, and Arnulfo Cortez and wife, Maria Cortez of Alvin, Texas; her daughters, Dolores Cortez and son-in-law, Louis Estrada, Anna Rosa Gonzalez, all of Lamesa, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Julia Cortez of Mathis, Texas; her brothers, Fortunato Andrade and wife, Maria Andrade of Greenville, Texas; her sisters, Refugia Pizana and Amarita Gutierrez, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Catalina Gonzalez and husband, Alfredo Gonzalez of Sinton, Texas; her grandchildren whom she raised as her "very own" are, Rachel Cardenas and Gilroy Cardenas, both of Lamesa, Texas, Patricia Ongaro and Joseph (Andy) Sierra, both of Shreveport, LA.; her great-grand-daughter she raised as her "very own", April Villarreal of Shreveport, LA; twenty-four grandchildren; sixty-eight great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and family relatives.
