Graveside service for Lola Faye Dennis, 88, of Lamesa will be held Monday, January 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Adams officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Facial masks and social distancing are required at service.

Lola Faye Dennis (Madison) was born on January 12, 1933 to Lelah and Guy Madison in Muleshoe, Texas.

She left this earth to meet her heavenly father January 15, 2021.

She was married to Juttie Wayne Dennis on August 2, 1951 and raised 3 daughters in the Klondike community.

Lola was the ever present scorekeeper for the Klondike Cougars basketball teams for all the years her daughters were involved in sports and even after they graduated.

Lola was employed by Lamesa Press Reporter, the Lamesa ISD tax office, and later the Dawson County Central Appraisal District where she eventually retired.

She was a long-time member of the Klondike Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, Girls-in-Action, and vacation bible school.

Lola was an avid sponsor of 4-H for sewing, cooking, share the fun and method demonstration activities.

She and Juttie were founding members of Lamesa Community Players where they actively participated in all aspects of theatre. She received multiple LACOPA awards for Best Supporting Actress.

Lola enjoyed traveling and playing bridge with her friends.

Lola is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Juttie Wayne, her daughter Leah Spears, her great grandson, Ethan Cody, her parents Lelah and Guy Madison and her brothers, Hollis, JT, George, and Edgar.

She is survived by her daughters, Nita Dopson and husband, Steve of Lamesa, Sheila Bennett of Andrews, granddaughters, Heather Dopson of Tempe, AZ, Kelsey Seger and husband, Andrew of Lubbock, Chandra Cody and husband, Chris of Casper, WY, grandson, Brant Bennett of Brownfield, great grandchildren, Evie and Lara Seger and Elyn & Van Cody, her brother, Donald Madison as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
