Mrs. Brownlee Former Citizen, Dies at Midland
Mrs. S.J. Brownlee, 82, well known former resident of this city, died Saturday at Midland after a brief illness. She was an old Panhandle resident, highly respected throughout this section of Texas for many years.
The deceased was married in 1868 [sic] to Ben F. O'Brien. To this union were born four children, Onnie, George, Will and Effie. In 1882 she married A. Brownlee, to which union two children, John and Fred, were born.
For the past few years she had made her home at Amarillo with her son, W. O'Brien, president of the National Bank of Commerce. She died while visiting another son, S.W. O'Brien, who resides at Wickett, near Midland.
Besides these sons, the deceased leaves two daughters, Mrs. Onnie Hines, of Hereford, Mrs. S.B. Edwards of Fort Worth, and two other sons, Fred Brownlee of Mobeetie and John Brownlee of Electra.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church here at 3:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in West Park Cemetery.
