Mary Jane Burrus, 95, longtime Hereford resident died Friday, September 26, 2014 at King’s Manor Methodist Home - West Gate.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home, Monday, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

A Rosary is scheduled for 6:30 pm, Monday, September 29, 2014 at Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E 6th.

A Mass of Resurrection Burial Service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony “Tony” Neusch, Parish Priest officiating as Celebrant.

Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.

Mary Jane was born October 3, 1918, in Oilton, Oklahoma to H. W. and Lenore (Cummins) Kribbs.

Mary Jane graduated from Pampa High School in 1934. She extended her education and graduated from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Amarillo in 1940.

She married the love of her life, Herschel I. Burrus on December 15, 1940 in Electra, Texas. They moved to Hereford in 1948 from Canyon.

Mary Jane was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She loved her Lord and Savior and was a devout Catholic. She was a member of the American Red Cross, Pioneer Study Club, Farming and Ranch Club and was a Walcott 4-H Club Leader. Mary Jane liked to play her violin and watch the Wheel of Fortune TV show. She traveled to Rome, the Amish Country in PA, the Foliage Tour on the East Coast, to San Francisco and many other places of interest. She liked the outdoors, bird watching and most of all she loved having family gatherings and just being with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 brother, Bill Kribbs; 2 sisters, Harriet Morrison, Rosalie Burrus Gilbreath; and 2 infant daughters.

The family suggests memorials to the American Red Cross, St. Anthony’s Catholic School Endowment Fund and King’s Manor Methodist Retirement Home.
