HEREFORD, April 27 (Special) - D.R. Carmichael, 89, of 209 Ave I, Hereford, died in Deaf Smith County Hospital here about 11 a.m. today.
He had been ill for several weeks.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church here at 3 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Howard Scott, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery in Hereford under direction of the Gilliland Funeral Home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1869, in Alabama, and came to Texas in 1888, from Mississippi. He married Ida Stone on Jan. 7, 1894, at Grandfield, Tex. The couple came to Deaf Smith County in 1925 from Delhi, Okla.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of the home; three daughters, Mrs. C.M. Brown of Oregon City, Ore., Mrs. L.E. Griffin of Liberal, Kan., and Mrs. W.B. Griffin of Hereford; three sons, P.L. and W.T. both of Hereford, and L.D. of Friona; 28 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; and a brother, L.C. of Abilene.
