Rites On Friday For C.W. Cogdell, Pioneer Resident
Death came unexpectedly to Charles White Cogdell, 64, at his home north of Dawn on Wednesday. Mr. Cogdell came to Deaf Smith County from Mexia in 1902 and was engaged in farming in the Dawn community at the time of his death.
Final rites were conducted Friday morning at the Palo Duro Baptist Church with the Rev. Patterson, pastor, and the Rev. Henry Eason of Amarillo in charge.
Serving as pallbearers were C.D. Carnahand, Boyd Knox, Keller Muse, R.B. Hutson, Claud McBroome and Altus Higgins.
Burial was in West Park Cemetery with Gililland Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Mexia, Tex., Mr. Cogdell was born on Sept. 5, 1892. His parents were the late W.M. and Lizzie Cogdell.
He and Mamie Ballard were married on March 3, 1948, in Tucson.
At various times, after his graduation for Hereford schools, Mr. Cogdell worked in Hereford as public accountant, county auditor, and as an automobile dealer.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mamie Cogdell of Hereford and one brother, Frank Cogdell, of Hereford.
