HEREFORD - Stephen Paul Coneway, 63, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009.
Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Bushart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.
Steve was born Aug. 20, 1946, in Hereford to Raymond Paul and Irene Olive Willard Coneway and died Dec. 8, 2009, at his residence in Hereford with his beloved family at his bedside.
He earned his Eagle Scout in July 1964. He married the love of his life, Nan Carol Neal Coneway, on Feb. 14, 1969, in Clarendon. He graduated in 1968 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock with a B.A. degree in agricultural economics. He owned and operated Water Industries and Tascosa Beef in Hereford. He was the Scoutmaster for First United Methodist Church Boy Scout Troop 52 in 1972; director of the Texas Water Well Association in 1979; state director of Water Well Association from 1980 to 1983; Water Well Association secretary/treasurer from 1986 to 1987; Kids, Inc. board member in 1981; Hereford Independent School District board member from 1985 to 1991; Hereford city commissioner from 2006 to 2009; and a member of the New Mexico Water Well Association.
Steve was a family man. He loved his family, wife, children, grandchildren and a host of many friends. He will be dearly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his mother in October 2008, and his father in September of this year.
Survivors include his wife, Nan; a daughter, Amy Moore and husband Shaun of Austin; a son, Josh Coneway and wife Pam of Hereford; two brothers, Clint Coneway and wife Greta of Coronado, Calif., and Tom Coneway and wife Betty of Hereford; five grandchildren, Hannah, Riley and Jack Moore, all of Austin, and Ezekiel and Luke Coneway, both of Hereford; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Kings Manor Methodist Home, 400 Ranger Drive, Hereford, TX 79045; Samaritan Hospice, 426 Main St., Hereford, TX 79045; American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or Boy Scouts Troop 52, in care of First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 527, Hereford, TX 79045.
The family will receive visitors at 116 Rio Vista Drive.
