Funeral Services for James Dobbs, 81, a long time Summerfield resident will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Summerfield Baptist Church with Reverend Ellis Parson, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in West Park Cemetery under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Dobbs, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 in Amarillo, TX.

James Dobbs was born April 20, 1933 to James Henry and Lillie Vanatta Dobbs in Sparta, Tennessee. He married Nora Jo McLellan in Hereford on August 31, 1954. After her death he married Doris Jay on June 27, 1959 in Amarillo.

James attend schools in Dimmitt, graduating from Dimmitt High School in 1953. He drove a school bus while still in High School. Mr. Dobbs was a Charter Member of Easter Lions Club, where he served as President. He had also served on the High Plains Eye Bank Border Directors, where he also served as President. James was a very active member of Summerfield Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon. He was a Castro County Constable for 22 years. He was a farmer, and worked for Rocky Lee in fertilizer.

He survived by his wife, Doris Dobbs, two daughters: LeAnn Talk and husband Lonny of Virginia Beach, VA., Renee Patton and husband Robert of Oklahoma City, OK., and one son-in-law Robert Sears of Canyon, TX. 6 grandchildren: Sarah, Amber, Joshua, Amie, Justin and Jake, two brothers-in-law Dan McLellan of Dallas, TX., and Jim Cassells and wife Leota of Amarillo, TX. One sister-in-law Ruth Dobbs of Enid, OK. Mr. Dobbs was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Nora Jo, his daughter Kerri Sears and two brothers Clark and Larry Dobbs.

The family suggest memorials in Mr. Dobbs name be made to Summerfield Baptist Church, HC 3 Box 215 Summerfield, TX. 79085 or to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St. Amarillo, TX. 79109.

Funeral Services for Doris Dobbs, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Summerfield Baptist Church with Reverend Ellis Parson, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at West Park Cemetery. Services are under the personal supervision of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Parkside Chapel. Mrs. Dobbs passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017, in Gilbert, Arizona.

Doris Jay was born January 23, 1938 to Walter and Pearl Sullivan Jay in Elk City, Oklahoma. She attended schools in Merritt, Oklahoma and graduated in 1956. Doris married James Dobbs and lived in Summerfield for 45 years. She had worked as a bookkeeper for over 20 years for Barett & Crowfoot.

She is survived by two daughters, Renee Patton and husband Robert from Gilbert, AZ., and Leann Talk and husband Lonny from Virginia Beach, VA.; one son in law, Robert Sears from Canyon, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and daughter, Kerri Sears.

The family suggests Memorials in Mrs. Dobbs name be made to Summerfield Baptist Church, HC3 Box 215 Summerfield, TX 79085.
