HEREFORD — Richard Fortenberry, 87, of Hereford died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Central Church of Christ in Hereford with Jared Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home of Hereford.

Mr. Fortenberry was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Floyd County to Hugh and Nannie Fortenberry. He married Dixie Williams in June of 1953.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Drake of Yukon, Okla., and Nita Campbell of Amarillo; a son, Victor Fortenberry of Heavener, Okla.; a sister, Lonella Bohannon of California; two brothers, Jake of Adrian and Donald of Friona; and 15 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 415 S.W. Eighth Ave., Suite 300, Amarillo, TX 79101.

HEREFORD - Dixie Dean Williams Fortenberry, 74, died Thursday, July 9, 2009.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hereford Central Church of Christ with Jared Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.

Dixie Dean Williams Fortenberry, longtime Hereford resident, died of cancer at 10:14 p.m. July 9, at her residence with her family at her bedside. Dixie was born Sept. 6, 1934, in Oklahoma to Charles and Juanita Luton Williams. She married Richard Fortenberry on June 4, 1953, in Quay County, N.M.

She was a farmer and cattle person in Oldham and Deaf Smith counties. She was a Church of Christ member. She was a member of First Families of the Cherokee Nation and a member of Hereford Toastmasters Club. Her hobbies were needlework and genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a special son, William Wayne Fortenberry; a beloved sister, Ruby Charlene Williams Cooper; and her stepfather, Thomas Hitt.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Drake and husband Rocky of Vega and Nita Campbell and husband Rusty of Amarillo; a son, Victor Fortenberry and wife Becky of Hereford; two half sisters, Mickey Bogle and Linda Williams of Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Rusty and Rhonda Davis of Abilene, Ricky and Heidi Davis of Borger, Nathan Davis of Vega, Daniel and Angela Davis serving in the U.S. military, April and Hugo Penilla of Baytown, Trey Don and Cory Dean Campbell of Amarillo, Kyle Fortenberry of Hereford and Lisa and Bill Patchen and Lora and Madison Drake, all of Oklahoma; 12 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hinkly, Maverick, Alan, Isabella, Lanie Jo, Liahona, Anthony, Abby, Jordan, Andrew and Rafael; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to March of Dimes, www.marchofdimes.com/howtohelp.asp; Shriners Children's Foundation; or any medical research foundation that will help children.
