HEREFORD - Last rites were to be held at 3 p.m. today in the Central Church of Christ for James Burl France, 90, who died Wednesday night in Deaf Smith County Hospital.

Officiating will be Bob Wear, a Littlefield minister. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland Funeral Home.

Mr. France came to Hereford in 1900 and was a farm and ranch owner.

Surviving are his wife, Maude Anna; a son, Jack and a daughter, Mrs. G. D. Caison Jr., all of Hereford; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. James Burl France, 88, of 304 East Sixty, pioneer resident of Hereford, were conducted Saturday afternoon in Central Church of Christ, of which she was a member.

J.T. Martin, minister, and Bob Wear of Littlefield, former minister, officiated. Burial was in West Park Cemetery, directed by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home.

Mrs. France died unexpectedly at her home early Friday.

Born Jan. 3, 1885, in Dallas County, she came with her parents from Cleburne to Hereford around the turn of the century, and was Maude Anna Smith before her marriage here Nov. 25, 1908. Her husband died Dec. 8, 1971.

She was a member of Pioneer Study Club more than 50 years and was honored by the club with life membership.

Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. G.D. Caison; a son, Jack France; a sister, Mrs. C. Ora Cockrell, and three grandchildren, all of Hereford.
