*Obituary Earlene Kropp Gordon
Celebration of Life services for Earlene Kropp Gordon, 91, of Hereford, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at West Park Cemetery directed by family members. Interment will be under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:45 a.m. in the Lamar Room at Kings Manor Methodist Retirement System, 400 Ranger St., Hereford, Texas, with Benny Baker, pastor of Circle Back Baptist Church, and John Henley, minister of Central Church of Christ, officiating.

Mrs. Gordon passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at King's Manor Methodist Retirement System. Earlene Warren was born Feb. 19, 1921, to Henry and Virgie Davis Warren in Coryell County, Texas, near Gatesville. She was the seventh child in a family of 10 children which consisted of five boys and five girls. Three of the boys died at an early age. The family moved to Crosbyton in a covered wagon when she was 3 years old. She attended schools in Crosbyton.

In 1939 at the age of 18, she married O.D. Waller and during their 10 years of marriage she gave birth to five children, which included twins. In 1951, she married Claude Kropp of Lorenzo and this marriage was blessed with another son. The family lived in Hereford, Dimmitt, Hart and Sudan during their 32 years of marriage. Claude passed away in 1983. In 1987 she met and married Waymon Gordon of Sudan and they were married for 24 years before his death in February 2012. At the time of Waymon's death, they were residents of King's Manor Methodist Home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sudan. Earlene was a hard worker all of her life and those who knew her would agree. One of the biggest accomplishments in her teen years was pulling 990 lbs. of cotton in one day. She was a caretaker and loved serving others. She worked in the fields as a child, and as an adult she worked for a time in a cafe, she took in washing for others, worked in a variety of stores and did housework for others. She worked hard to help take care of her six children and husband. She was a wonderful cook, excelling in desserts. Her fried pies were known throughout the community and were always in demand by her children and grandchildren. After her children left home she started quilting, a craft she learned from her mother. She enjoyed sewing and made many craft items. She learned how to crochet from her daughter and shared many afghans with her friends and family. She loved being outdoors working in her yard and garden.

Earlene was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, son Oliver D. Waller and great-grandson Ethan Kropp.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Minchew and husband Charles of Hereford and Reba O. Easterwood; three sons, Troy G. Waller and wife Betty of Amarillo, Narvin D. (Butch) Waller and wife Kathy of Hart, and John W. Kropp and wife Beverly of Hereford; two stepsons, Paul Gordon and wife Anita of Austin and Phillip Gordon and wife Mary Ann of Sudan. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
