HEREFORD - Ludie Virginia Turner Greeson, 81, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, in Amarillo.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Streun, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.

Ludie was born Jan. 24, 1928, to L.M. and Ellen Turner. She graduated from Hereford High School and attended West Texas State College, where she was crowned Personality Queen.

Ludie married J.D. Greeson on March 10, 1950. She had been a member of First Baptist Church of Hereford since she was 9 years old. She was a member of the senior adult Bible study class. Ludie wanted everyone to know and love the Lord.

She served twice as Worthy Matron of the Hereford Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked as a bookkeeper for Arrowhead Mills. Ludie was an accomplished seamstress who loved music and working in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D., who died in 1983; a son, Douglas Wayne, in 1986; a brother, Henry Turner; and two sisters, Mildred Turner and Katherine Sheppard.

Survivors include two sons, David of Huntsville, Ala., and Denver Knight and wife Francis of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Billy Greeson and Denver Greeson, both of Amarillo, and Jessica Ramos of Round Rock; a sister, Emmarie Lehnick of Amarillo; five great-grandchildren; four nieces; and six nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, 500 N. Main St., Hereford, TX 79045; or a favorite charity.
