Bette Ellen Walker Halverson 71 died Sunday November 13, 2011.

A service will be at a later date in Hereford.

Bette was born October 02, 1940 in Dimmitt to George Albert and Gladys Lorean Wolfington Walker. Bette was a 1959 graduate of Palo Duro High School in Amarillo where a monument she helped design still stands in front of the school. Bette attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview.

Bette married Richard A. Halverson on July 01, 1961 at Amarillo Air Force base. Being a military spouse she lived in Oklahoma, Japan, England, Arizona, California and Texas. While living in San Angelo she worked a short time at Park Plaza Nursing Home and West Supply Co. In her younger days Bette worked with the Red Cross and Boy Scouts. Bette moved to Abilene in 1992 and eventually settled in Tye.

Bette loved to create and design anything and write poetry. Bette was very talented and creative.

Bette will truly be missed by those who knew her.

Bette was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2002; a son Robert Halverson in 2010; her parents George and Gladys Walker; Sister Marie Woodring; 3 brothers: Brian Walker, Robert Walker and Gary Walker.

Survivors include her Daughter Denise Mote and husband Kirk of San Angelo; 2 brothers Bill Walker and wife Mary and Michael Walker all of Amarillo; three grandchildren: Kristen Mote, Kamerin Mote and Justin Halverson; Great-Granddaughter Adelynn Halverson; Niece Linda Williams of Amarillo and many other nieces and nephews; Special friend Edith Jones of Tye; and Tye Community Center.
