SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Robert Leo Hennington, 78, passed away, with his loving family by his side, on July 22, 2008, at Brighton Gardens Hospice of the Valley, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Born in Dimmitt, Texas, on April 10, 1930, he was the middle of three children to Leo Vance Hennington and Neva Marie Wyer Hennington, who all have preceded him in death. He graduated high school in Hereford, Texas, in 1949 and then served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He then attended university and moved to Arizona in 1960, where he was a supervisor for AT&T his entire career.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, JoAnn (Witherspoon); a daughter, Suanne and husband Eric; a grandson, Patrick and wife Jill; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Allison and Abigail; two nieces, Gayle and Cathy; and a nephew, Vance Lee.

Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Rix Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas, with services directly after at 3 p.m. in Rix Chapel and graveside at Hereford West Park Cemetery.

Hennington, Jo Ann Witherspoon 81, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on December 6, 2013. Professor Emeritus at Arizona State University. She was born April 10, 1932 in Hereford, Texas, and married Robert Leo Hennington on July 10, 1950. She graduated as Valedictorian from Hereford High School in 1949. She and Leo moved to Scottsdale in 1960. She received her Bachelor of Arts, MBA, and Doctorate of Education from Arizona State University. After teaching in Scottsdale at Arcadia and Chaparral High Schools from 1964-1973, she began her career as a professor at Arizona State University in 1973. She held a series of faculty and administrative positions in the College of Business, retiring as Assistant Dean in 1994. She was active in Delta Pi Epsilon, the national association for research in business education, serving as President and Past President. Jo Ann and Leo were founding members of the Camelback Church of Christ, where she was active for the next 47 years. Jo Ann is survived by her daughter, Suanne Hennington Johnson, her grandson, Patrick L. Hurley, and great-grandchildren Andrew, Allison, and Abigail Hurley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, her parents and a brother. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at the Messinger Mortuary Chapel, 7601 E.
